History

Dilworth began in 1890 and was connected to Uptown with the city’s first electric trolley. The neighborhood’s development in the 1910s was led by a team of landscape designers, including Frederick Olmsted, a renowned architect who designed New York’s Central Park and the grounds of the Biltmore Estate in Asheville. John Nolen, a notable landscape architect and urban designer, built most of Myers Park in the early 1900s. One of the community’s original homes, constructed in 1913, still stands today. This building and other historic buildings and sites have been carefully preserved, including stone structures that were once trolley stops.
